7 Classical Tip for Reading
The 7 Levels of Remembering What You Read: A Journey through Dumbledore's Army"
Hey, friends! Welcome back to my blog. If you're new here, my name is Asif, and I'm a teacher. On this blog, we delve explore education, literature and language. If you're into personal development, lifelong learning, and becoming a better thinker, you're in the right place.
Today, we're embarking on a journey through the seven levels of remembering everything we read. So, grab your wand, because we're about to dive into the magical world of effective reading retention.
The Muggle: Ah, the humble beginnings. We start off as muggles, just passively reading without engaging with the material. But as any wizard knows, this won't do for non-fiction reading. We need to actively absorb insights.
The Squib: Level up! Now, we're highlighting or underlining the juicy bits that resonate with us. But alas, this method alone won't cement the knowledge in our brains. It's like casting a spell without the right incantation.
Hufflepuff: Enter Readwise, our trusty companion. With this tool, we systematically review our highlights, ensuring they don't vanish into the abyss of forgotten knowledge.
Ravenclaw: We're getting clever now. By automating the process of pulling highlights into a central note-taking app like Notion, we're one step closer to mastery. But there's still room for improvement.
Dumbledore's Army: Engaging with books by taking quick notes elevates us to the next level. Notion templates make it easy to summarize books in three sentences, ensuring we truly understand the concepts.
Literature Notes: Time to dive deeper. Here, we craft detailed summaries and notes on the books that resonate most with us. It's a labor of love, but the insights gained are invaluable.
Evergreen Notes: The pinnacle of our journey. We transform our literature notes into permanent, self-contained atomic notes. This method, inspired by the Zettelkasten method, allows us to create a treasure trove of knowledge that's easily accessible and deeply interconnected.
So, there you have it – the seven levels of remembering what you read. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned reader, incorporating these strategies into your reading routine can revolutionize your learning journey. And remember, as Dumbledore once said, "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." So, let's read, learn, and live our best lives.
